What to Expect When Our Drain Engineer Visits

If you’ve never had a drain engineer round before, it helps to know what will happen. Here’s what to expect when you book us, from the first call to paying at the end. We’re a small, family-run team based in Cheadle, so on every drain engineer visit you’ll be dealing with the same people from start to finish.

1. You call or WhatsApp us

Call 07375 521027 or send a message on WhatsApp. We take calls 24/7. Tell us what’s happening: which sinks or toilets are affected, whether a gully or manhole is overflowing, and how long it’s been going on. A photo of the problem, or of the manhole with the cover lifted, really helps.

2. Fixed prices, no surprises

Our prices are fixed, and there’s no call-out charge when we carry out the work.

• Rodding and plunging: £75 + VAT (fixed), for soft or localised blockages
• Jetting and machine work: £150 + VAT (fixed), for roots, fat, scale and stubborn debris
• Commercial drainage: quote on request, from £220 + VAT

Fixed prices apply Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Evenings, weekends and bank holidays may cost more, and we’ll tell you the rate before we set off. Our pricing and terms explain everything in full.

3. Getting ready for us

• If you know where your manholes and gullies are, clear any pots, bins or cars off them
• Stop using the affected sinks, showers and toilets
• Keep pets indoors
• Let us know about parking or access issues, such as a shared alleyway or locked gate

4. We find the blockage

When we arrive, we’ll ask a few questions and lift the manhole covers to see where the water is sitting. That tells us roughly where the blockage is and which way to work.

5. We clear it

We use the right tool for the job. Simple blockages are cleared with rods or a plunger. Tougher ones need high-pressure jetting or electro-mechanical machines. 6. We check the drain and give you honest advice

Once it’s running, we’ll check the flow. Where it’s needed, we’ll put a camera down to look at the pipe. If it was a one-off, we’ll tell you. If something is causing repeat blockages, such as roots or a cracked pipe, we’ll show you and explain the options. A full CCTV report can be added for £80 + VAT, and larger investigations are done as a CCTV drain survey.

7. Paying

Payment is due when the job is finished, and you can pay by card using our mobile card reader. Businesses can ask for account terms when booking. If a blockage can’t be cleared, for example because the pipe has collapsed, you pay only the fixed price for the last method we tried, never both, and we’ll explain why and what your options are.

Our guarantee and insurance

Our drain unblocking comes with a 12-month guarantee, and so do our drain repairs (not including surface reinstatement), as long as the drainage isn’t misused or damaged. We’re also fully insured.
